Alfred is a third generation licensed funeral director. He graduated from Clemson University, Class of 1948, earning the Shanklin Medal for scholastic achievement. While at Clemson he played in the Jungaleers Big Band and today he continues to play first saxophone with the university alumni group. Following graduation he served as an U.S. Army Infantry Officer. He joined the firm in 1950 and, serving as President, is very active in the businesses including Robinson’s Department Store. He has been very active in the community as a member and Past President of the Easley Chamber of Commerce and Easley Rotary Club. A lifelong member of Easley Presbyterian Church, he was a former Chairman of the Diaconate and is currently an elder and Trustee. In 1990, he was elected President of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, an international organization of family-owned funeral homes. He and his wife, Margot, have four children.
