He was born and raised in Easley, SC, is a 1977 graduate of Easley Sr. High School and a 1984 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, GA. Stokes and his wife, Sheila, are active members of the Rock Springs Baptist Church and have two married sons, and two grandchildren.
